RambleNot Privacy Policy
RambleNot is a speaking practice app published by Midas 28 Pty Ltd (ABN 55 701 848 008), Australia, "we" below. This policy explains what the app does with information. The short version: your recordings and your speech stay on your phone. We have no accounts, no ads and no tracking.
What stays on your phone
- Video and audio recordings. Takes you record are saved in the app's storage on your device. We never upload them.
- Speech analysis. Pace, pauses and talk time are measured on the device. On iPhone, RambleNot asks iOS for on-device speech recognition only, and it works with the phone offline. iOS still shows Apple's standard speech notice the first time; RambleNot does not send your speech to Apple or to us. On Android, RambleNot uses the on-device recogniser only. If on-device recognition is not available, the app skips those numbers rather than using an online service.
- Your answers and progress. Onboarding answers, streaks, ratings, settings and history live on your device. Your birth year is used once to check you are 16 or older and is not kept.
- Reminders. Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your phone. No server sends them.
Uninstalling the app deletes all of this. You can also delete your takes inside the app.
What leaves your phone
Only three kinds of information, none of it linked to you:
- Purchases (RevenueCat). If you subscribe to Backstage, Apple or Google handles the payment. RevenueCat, our subscription service provider, receives your purchase history under a random anonymous ID so the app knows what you have unlocked. We never see your card or your Apple or Google account details.
- Crash reports (Sentry). If the app crashes, it sends a crash report to Sentry: the error, the app version and basic device details such as model and operating system version. Crash reports carry no name, account, user ID, recordings, transcripts or text you typed.
- Anonymous usage counts (Aptabase). The app sends six anonymous counts so we can see whether it is working for people: onboarding finished, a rep done, a share completed, a post confirmed, the subscription screen shown, and a purchase made. Each count is just the event name with the app version and basic device details. There is no advertising ID, no user ID and no content.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. RambleNot does not track you across other apps or websites.
Sharing your takes
When you choose to share a take, the app hands it to your phone's share sheet or the app you picked. That is your choice and goes directly from your phone to that app; we do not receive a copy. That app's own privacy policy applies to what you post.
Permissions
- Camera and microphone: to record your takes. Voice-only practice works without the camera.
- Speech recognition: to measure pace and pauses on the device.
- Notifications: optional, for reminders you ask for.
Every permission is optional and can be changed in your phone's settings.
Age
RambleNot is for people aged 16 or older. The app asks for your birth year and does not let anyone younger record.
Australian Privacy Principles
We follow the Australian Privacy Principles voluntarily. Because we hold almost no personal information, most requests can be met by deleting the app. If you want to ask what we hold, correct it or complain, contact us below and we will reply within 30 days. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Where data is processed
Crash reports (Sentry) and usage counts (Aptabase) are stored in the European Union. Purchase records (RevenueCat) may be processed in the United States. Each acts as our service provider under its own terms.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above, and for any meaningful change we will say so in the app.
